Lab Notebook

Overview

The Lab Notebook landing page is for you to curate and maintain any work you do in the lab, whether it be benchwork or computational. It is crucial that this remains up-to-date and is fantastic practice for generating and maintaining good documentation, which truthfully helps everyone in the lab (including yourself).

Information on making new notes and editing them is below.

Making new notes

While the template for lab notebook entries are in a weekly format, feel free to change this as needed! Also, make sure to tag your entries with the appropriate project, which may mean that you have multiple weekly notes for different projects!

This makes it easier to navigate and hunt useful information as needed! Creating and editing lab notes is (hopefully) fairly easy.

Specifically, if a weekly lab notes file for the present week does not exist1, simply copy, paste (rename the file) and edit the template.

Once created and renamed, the file automatically gets added to a table of all such files, which is accessible from the Lab Notebook and Projects landing pages of the website.

Creating and editing lab notes will be demonstrated in the video below.
